APL-led research has uncovered the unique behaviors of ice giant magnetospheres, enhancing our understanding of exoplanets. It has also identified Uranus’ moons Ariel and Miranda as likely ocean-bearing worlds possibly emitting material into space.

In the past five years, APL has led efforts to unite ice giant experts, such as the 2020 Royal Society workshop in London. These initiatives have fostered collaboration and generated instrument and spacecraft concepts for cross-disciplinary scientific investigations.

The Ice Giants Systems Seminar Series, organized by APL, highlights recent developments in topics related to the ice giant systems, featuring guest speakers, lively discussions, and community updates.
